Black Mountain Instruments / Jumbo Wood Dulcimers
A longer scale and deeper body give these larger dulcimers more volume
and a deeper tone. They feature scroll heads, heartshaped sound holes, four string
set up, nickel/silver fretted fingerboards (with included 6 1/2 and 13 1/2 "extra frets"),
chrome mechanical tuning machines and solid wood tops and backs. The Deluxe versions (#88D and #81D) also feature rosewood fingerboards with mother-of-pearl position dots, and a rosewood center stripe inlay on the bookmatched backs. These hourglass shaped bodies have lacquered, handrubbed finishes.
Length, width, and depth are 36" x 7 7/8" x 3 1/8". Scale
length" is 29 1/4"
Model 88
Model 88 has a solid quartersawn Cedar top and solid cherry back, sides and
head. The fingerboard is cherry. Together, these woods produce
a bright, ringing tone.
Model 88D
Model 88Deluxe has a solid quartersawn dark Cedar top and solid bookmatched cherry back with a rosewood stripe, cherry sides and
head. The fingerboard is rosewood with mother-of-pearl position dots.
Model 81
This dulcimer has a solid vertically "grained spruce top and solid
walnut back, sides, head and fingerboard. The combination of woods give
this instrument a round, mellow tone.
Model 81D
The Model 81Deluxe has a solid vertically "grained spruce top and solid
walnut back with maple/rosewood/maple inlay, walnut sides, head and rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl position dots.
